This was the first guide I tried.
I ended up veering away from this method and re-installing the software directly after a long study of hzeller’s instructions as well as Pi/Unix practices. This was mainly due to troubleshooting a problem that turned out to be my adapter. But the linked guide was still a very helpful starting point to give me some experience and familiarity. This was my first use of a Pi too.
What conversion board do you have? Depending on your adapter you may need to skip that part of the Adafruit guide. For example, I ended up wiring directly to the Pi’s GPIO pins and choosing led-gpio-mapping=regular.
