# Noob Question/Help

Hello first time poster. I am just starting to get this working as part of a school project and cant seem to get this to work properly on hardware. I have tried running the following command

“sudo ./text-example --led-rows=16 ==led-cols=32 -f …/fonts/8x13.bdf”

I then type “hello” but I just get a lot of random flashing.

I have checked the wiring twice and am pretty sure i have it set correctly. I have the following hardware. Is there something obvious i am missing?

--led-slowdown-gpio was my issue! set it to 2 now its working like a charm!
```

yep, rPi4 requires 2 because it’s too fast.
